To Lands Unknown 3.12 is now available! This is one of the last major updates. It focuses on gameplay improvements, visual enhancements, and a new challenging achievement. There are 5 main features in this version:
1. Early finish bonus XP for meditation AMLA:
The Meditation AMLA now provides bonus XP to Mehir for finishing scenarios early (1 XP for every remaining turn). This is a groundbreaking change. It means players will no longer need to deploy Mehir to the front lines just to farm XP to experience his special AMLAs. Now, completing missions as quickly as possible is highly beneficial. This idea was suggested by Konrad2, thank you!
2. A new achievement:
This one is extremely challenging. To obtain it, you'll need to ignore the main objective in the final mission and focus on surviving all enemy waves instead. However, it will require very powerful troops to face the almost inconceivable odds. This idea was planned long before the base game's achievement system was introduced, and we're excited to finally bring it to life. A big thanks to ForestDragon for coding the enemy waves and IceSandslash for suggesting a similar idea and giving it a name.
3. Scenario improvements:
Thanks to your valuable feedback, I’ve made several improvements to existing scenarios. For instance, defeating the enemy leader in S04 early not only grants you a rare achievement but also rewards Mehir and his troops with bonus XP. In S08, bats behave differently, tents in S10 automatically belong to the player, and the turn limit in S23 accurately shows how much time remains before teleportation. Thank you, lhybrideur and Konrad2, for your fantastic ideas!
4. Animated destination marker for the world map (experimental): The interactive TLU world map has been upgraded with a special animated destination marker in form of a fancy, spinning magical circle. This was a last-minute addition, but it should make things even more interesting. Please note that this is an experimental feature and might cause minor glitches on lower resolutions. For optimal visual experience, I recommend playing on 1920x1080 or higher, in full-screen mode.
5. Improved portraits:
After replaying the campaign, I decided to revert to the less realistic portrait style from before. TLU is known for its humor and emphasizes its fantasy setting. The previous, more realistic portraits seemed to take away from the game's humorous charm. So, I redrew these portraits using my older technique to bring back the less serious, comic book-like style. I guess we all love those GOOGLY EYES!

I’d like to thank my recent Ko-fi supporters: Heindal, Christal J. Kuna, Bralex, and Dzeta091. Oh, and Heindal, you might want to replay Scenario 20 "Enlightenment" (or simply check out the changelog) to uncover a delightful surprise![Wink ;)]()
